"Set ambitious goals!" "Aim high!" Maybe you have heard these pieces of advice a lot. They can motivate people. However, when people try to achieve a goal that is challenging, they often give up too quickly. What do you think (that) you need to do to achieve your goal?

In 1989, Mark Wellman finally succeeded in climbing to the top of El Capitan, a 900 meter rock wall in Yosemite National Park, California. His success was special because he couldn't move the lower half of his body. Mark climbed the rock, holding the rope tightly and pulling himself up. He could lift his body only 15 centimeters at a time. He had to pull the rope more than 6,000 times over nine days to reach the top. He succeeded in th e face of the hot summer weather.

When reporters asked Mark how he made it, he said, "Just 15 centimeters at a time." Each time he thought only about how to move up 15 centimeters. He realized his dream by moving15 centimeters more than 6,000 times. Mark said, "If you have a dream, it can become a reality only when you make a great effort to achieve it." Do not just sit back! Act! You can achieve anything if you decide to move forward just 15 centimeters at a time." If Mark Wellman had thought about reaching the top, not just about the next 15 centimeters,  he would have given up in the middle of his climb. Instead, he moved forward 15 centimeters at a time, pulling himself up with only his arms. He went up the rock wall very slowly, but was finally able to reach the top.

As teenagers, your future will be determined by how you spend your time now. Have a goal that you want to achieve and move toward it one small step at a time. If you keep moving little by little, you will move closer and closer to your goal and, in the end, you will achieve it.
