The South Korean government has decided to implement trade barriers against your country.

On May 16, 2024, the South Korean government decided in a cabinet meeting to completely ban the import of products that do not have KC certification for one year, in order to curb the rapidly growing cross-border e-commerce market. This measure applies to the following products that do not have KC certification, and global certifications such as CE, CCC, FC, and PSE are not recognized.

- All children's products (if a product can be used by children, it is considered a children's product even if adults use it)

- Wires, cables, and cords, switches, electronic switches, capacitors and power filters, accessories and connectors for electrical installations, fuses, circuit breakers, AC-powered electric heating pads and foot warmers, electric chargers, batteries, lamp holders, general lighting fixtures, ballasts and lamp control devices, lithium secondary batteries, control devices for electrical equipment, compressors, electric water heating mats, heat recovery ventilators, water pipe freeze prevention devices, electric water purifiers, electric health equipment, bubble generators, towel drying machines and packaging equipment, fluid pumps, electric bathtubs, computer power supplies, batteries, power conversion devices, lithium secondary battery systems, reusable battery modules, reusable battery systems, recycled tires for automobiles, gas lighters, BB guns

- Preservatives for humidifiers, household chemical products for humidifiers, disinfectants/preservatives for humidifiers, quarantine disinfectants/sanitizers for infectious disease prevention, health insecticides, health repellents, insecticides for infectious disease prevention, rodenticides for infectious disease prevention, disinfectants, algaecides, repellents, wood preservatives

However, this measure does not apply to Chinese distribution companies such as AliExpress or TEMU. (This is because the government has already negotiated with these Chinese distribution companies to have AliExpress and TEMU handle KC certification on behalf of the state.)

In contrast to imposing KC certification barriers on imports from your country, the South Korean government is considering using Korean taxpayers' money to support marketing through overseas logistics centers and local influencers to facilitate more exports to your country.

This measure will take effect 15 days later in June and is expected to affect exports from June.
