수여동사 (흔히 4형식동사)는 구성이 대충 이렇습니다.
give [sb] [sth] = 즉, objective를 두 개 가집니다. (다만, 둘 다 objective라기 보단, 각각이 1/2의 역할을 함.)
해당 순서를 지키지 않고 [sth] [sb]로 쓰려한다면, [sth] to [sb]가 되야 맞습니다.
일단 뭔가를 준다는 것은 '누구에게 주는가?'가 핵심입니다. 그 '누구'는 뭔가를 받는 주체(수여동사의 objective로써, 받음이라는 행위를 하는 주체)가 되기 때문에, [sth]보다 먼저 와야하는 것입니다. 그래서 순서가 1순위입니다.
다시, [sb] [sth]의 순서를 지키지 않는다면, [sth] to [sb]로 써야한다고 했습니다. 일단 give자체가 objective를 필요로 하는 동사이기 때문에, [sth]을 objective로 가집니다. 그 다음, [sb]는 수식어로 밀려나게 되는 거죠. [sb] [sth]순서로 쓰면 0.5, 0.5해서 1짜리가 될 것을, [sth]를 먼저 쓰는바람에 [sb]를 수식어자리로 보내버린겁니다.
ex) I gave a present to him. (o) = 나는 선물을 그에게 주었다.
(여기서 to가, 누구에게 보내는지를 알려줌. to + 타겟..
to를 써서, '~에게'에 해당하는 부분이 뒤로 왔음을 알려줌)
I gave a present him = 나는 선물에게 그를 주었다? (x)
그리고, 위의 문장처럼, [sth] to [sb]로 쓰지 않고 [sth] [sb]로 써버린다면 이상한 뜻이 되어버립니다.
원칙은 [sb] [sth]입니다. 다만, 꼬우면 [sth] to [sb]로 써도 되는데, [sth] [sb]라고 쓰면 안된다는 거죠.
해석의 차이는 거의 없습니다. 다만, 쓰는 순서의 차이일 뿐입니다.
