Описание:

In the current game, the critical angle of ricochet of APFSDS ammunition does not take into account projectile velocity. So on vehicles like the M1 Abrams and Type 90, when APFSDS hits the upper glacis, the ricocheted penetrator hits the lower part of the turret and the turret ring.

Penetrators that hit the upper glacis of the current in-game vehicle are ricocheted and penetrated under the turret.

According to the document, the critical ricochet of APFSDS occurs at an angle of attack of 78 degrees when the impact velocity is 1000m/s, and at an angle of attack of 87 degrees when the impact velocity is 1700m/s.

Most APFSDS in the game have a muzzle initial velocity of 1500-1700m/s or more.
Therefore, the general ricochet in which the APFSDS penetrator maintains its shape is only possible when hitting a homogeneous rolled armor with an angle of attack of 87 degrees or more. In addition, critical ricochets are affected by the hardness of the target armor, and for cast armor with lower hardness, ricochets occur at higher angles of attack.

When the penetrator hits an armor plate below the angle of attack at which the critical ricochet occurs, the penetrator will shatter and break if the plate has sufficient thickness and hardness. The critical angle at which the penetrator breaks depends on the hardness and thickness of the armor plate. Conversely, if the thickness and hardness of the armor plate is not sufficient, a penetrator can penetrate the armor plate.

In the test video of the Korean military, it can be seen that the penetrator is fragmented after hitting the upper glacis of the K-2 tank, and the penetration is lost.
Also, can see that APDSDS hitting the upper glacis did not ricochet.

Cylindrical tungsten alloy rods with a diameter of 8 mm and a value of ¸L/D"20 were fired at 40 mm thick steel plates with a velocity of 1.5 km/s and obliquity angles ranging up to 86°, using a witness plate. Ejected projectile remnants at obliquities of 60—80° were found to generate three types of craters: (a) those with a large surface and a small depth (b) a more or less symmetrical perforation in less deformed plates, and (c) a small surface and very large depth. At high obliquities (above 80°), a further increase in b reduces both the crater depth and bending at the striker tip, with complete fracture ensuing up to 86°.

In the paper(Non-ideal projectile impact on targets), it is mentioned that a tungsten alloy rod penetrator of L/D 20 has a complete fracture at an angle of attack of 80 to 86 degrees.

official report of a friendly fire incident where an Abrams was hit by a 120mm DU shell on it's upper glacis:

The round (M829A1) hit a mounting bracket for a mine-plough before shattering on the upper glacis and spattering against the underside of the gun and frontal turret.

in-game Western MBT turrets, including the M1 series, are penetrated by APFSDS ricocheted to UFP and take damage.
but, in the real world, APFSDS projectiles hitting a RHA plate with an angle of attack of 80-86 degrees will fragment and lose penetration.

Therefore, it is necessary to change the APFSDS to lose penetration at an angle of attack of 78-80 degrees or more, taking into account the velocity of APFSDS (1500~1700).

There is a simple solution to this issue.

At an angle of attack of 80 to 86 degrees (+-1), APFSDS does not ricochet, and the armor plate's protection is changed to increase rapidly.
